He is the Coordinator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sokashkasha\/\">Mitume Community Development Project<\/a>, our local collaboration partner from Kitale in the northwest of Kenya. &#8220;<em>There is no similar programme in the district and schools are poorly equipped with modern hardware&#8221;, <\/em>Augustine added<em>. <\/em>Thanks to our donors<i> <\/i>and many private donations we have been able to provide access to digital media and free IT education for more than 300 young people in Mitume, where most of the families are poor. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mitume-Kurs-Feb2018-860x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16327\" width=\"645\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mitume-Kurs-Feb2018-860x530.jpg 860w, https:\/\/www.leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mitume-Kurs-Feb2018-860x530-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mitume-Kurs-Feb2018-860x530-768x473.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px\" \/><figcaption>We have transferred digital skills to 300 young people in Mitume community in Kitale.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The IT education programme was divided into 6 modules, including basic operating system functionality and standard office applications, as well as internet skills and entrepreneurship. However, there are many good ideas among participants on how to tackle problems in the community. Following techniques and procedures developed by Prof. Faltin (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneurship.de\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.entrepreneurship.de<\/a>), participants of the entrepreneurship module were supported in the development of their business ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-16163 size-cmsmasters-blog-masonry-thumb\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Diskussion-Businessideas-Mitume.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16396\" width=\"645\" height=\"398\"\/><figcaption>Students discussing business idea for the Mitume community<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strengthen self-confidence and supporting peaceful coexistence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Things don&#8217;t always go as planned and that&#8217;s a good thing: It was not on our project plan to have at the end of the project a very successful women soccer team playing in the Kenya Premiere League. The &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Transnzoia-Falcons-Ladies-Football-Club-2025857901065817\/\">Falcons<\/a>&#8221; started as a group of female students playing soccer of the IT trainings. Congratulations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-16165 size-cmsmasters-blog-masonry-thumb\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/leapfrog-ngo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Transfog-team-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16398\" width=\"643\" height=\"397\"\/><figcaption>Falcons women football team <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Effects of post election violence of 2007- 2008 also affected most of the people in our locality&#8221;, <\/em>explained Augustine when we were planning the project. Prior to the post-election violence, youth from different communities and tribes lived together in peace.  They could not see eye to eye in the aftermath of election violence since many of them were involved in running battles and property looting in their opponent\u2019s communities.
